About Forward Journey
Forward Journey Adult Day Services is designed to provide programming for the 1% of adults with disabilities most affected by their disabilities. Attending participants have complex medical issues, mobility and communication limitations, need assistance with toileting and feeding or are tube fed. Individual goal plans focus on acquiring and/or maintaining basic skills through the daily activities offered. Forward Journey provides a safe, nurturing, exciting environment that includes activities such as: adaptive sports, cooking & baking, art therapy, community outings, person-centered planning, assistive technology, consultative therapy, full time onsite nursing and physical therapies along with "Paws for People" pet therapy. An intricate program component is MOVEŽ (Mobility Opportunities Via Experience). Through the use of specialized equipment, this focus on functional mobility helps attendees increase independence in sitting, standing and walking resulting in better health and enhanced personal dignity. MOVEŽ produces results through hard work, repetition, and the dedication of our trained staff. Forward Journey was the first MOVEŽ for adults’ site in Delaware and now serves as a model site for others interested in this program.
