Mission Statement
The Mission of the Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania is to foster a community of education, advocacy, supports, and research to maximize the quality of life for those with brain injuries and their families.
BIAPA Programs Include:
- The Brain Injury Resource Line (BIRL), which provides information about resources that may help people with brain injury or their family.
- Brain Safety Fairs, family-friendly events that provide education about preventing brain injuries. Some events include the fitting and distribution of free bicycle helmets.
- Education and training programs for people who have sustained a brain injury, their families, and the professionals who work with them.
- A state-wide directory of brain injury support groups.
The work of the Association is accomplished through paid professional staff and hundreds of volunteers. BIAPA is a 501(c)(3) organization and the official Pennsylvania affiliate of the Brain Injury Association of America.

The Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania was formed in 2001 as a 501(c)(3) membership organization with a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors. The Association's mission is to prevent brain injury and improve the quality of life for people who have experienced brain injury and their family members through support, education, advocacy, and research.
The work of the Association is accomplished through paid professional staff and hundreds of volunteers. BIAPA is the official Pennsylvania state chartered affiliate of the Brain Injury Association of America.
