Mission Statement

Repairing homes, revitalizing communities, rebuilding lives

About Rebuilding Together Greater Harrisburg

Celebrating 30 Years! Rebuilding Together Greater Harrisburg (RTGH) formerly Christmas in April, has been providing free home repairs and modifications to homes in Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry and upper York counties since December 1994. RTGH is an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization with a local volunteer Board of Directors that selects the homes to be worked on, raises the funds and recruits the volunteers to do the work. RTGH employs one part-time executive director whose office is located in her home. Many of our homeowners within our community lack the resources to maintain their homes. When a homeowner lacks the financial resources to maintain their home, unhealthy and dangerous situations increase. No one should have to call an unsafe place home. These homeowners are typically alone. They are elderly. They are physically unable to do repairs themselves. Family members may have abandoned them. They must choose between food, medication and utilities to making home repairs. Throughout the year, RTGH receives applications from homeowners who require roof replacement/repairs; plumbing and electrical repairs; carpentry repairs, weatherization, etc. Through grants and donations from various sources, our volunteers and contractors are able to reach out to these homeowners and make the necessary repairs and modification to ensure these homeowners live in a safe, warm and dry environment.
