Pittsburgh Hires Veterans 2020

Mission Statement

The mission of Pittsburgh Hires Veterans is to provide free one-on-one support and assistance to U.S. military veterans and current service members (including spouses) in search of education, training and employment opportunities without regard to discharge status or era served.

About Pittsburgh Hires Veterans

Pittsburgh Hires Veterans (PHV) believes that every veteran who took an oath to defend our country deserves employment with fair wages when transitioning back to civilian life. We further believe that employers will benefit from the knowledge, skills and abilities veterans bring to the workforce. It was for this reason that PHV was founded. Staff work hard to enhance the lives of every veteran who seeks assistance by providing free one-on-one career readiness services to veterans and their spouses.

PHV strives to improve veteran hiring outcomes in Southwestern PA by partnering with local employers and matching their needs to the skills of the veterans we assist. The objective is not simply to get a veteran into a job but to find the best possible match benefiting both the employer and the veteran. Unemployment has costs to society that are more than just financial. By helping veterans find employment, communities become more stable. Fewer resources are used to assist veterans and their families struggling to make ends meet. When families are in a positive financial position, they are also more likely to reinvest in their community. When PHV helps a veteran find employment, the community benefits as a whole.
