Welcome to My Personal Page
I serve on the YWCA Greater Pittsburgh Young Leaders Board and I'm asking for your support in making a difference in the lives of women and families in the Pittsburgh area. On Saturday, May 10, I'll be participating in the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community to raise funds on behalf of the YWCA - and I need your help.
My goal this year is to "friend-raise" $300 to go towards programming that will further the YWCA's mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.
The YWCA does this by:
- Helping homeless and low-income women and their families attain economic stability by offering both transitional and permanent housing assistance through the YWCA Housing Program.
- Broadening the future career goals of underserved middle-school girls by exposing them to the fields of science, technology, engineering and math with programs like TechGYRLS and the STEM STARS.
- Providing affordable child care services and resources for parents who want but cannot afford to pay for quality early learning environments for their children.
- Advocating for racial and social justice for underrepresented groups on issues like equal pay, voting rights, hate crimes, racial profiling and immigration reform.
These are just a handful of the initiatives that the YWCA tackles every single day.
Just for today, consider skipping out on your morning coffee or afternoon snack and instead invest $5-$10 in the life of a young woman or family in need.
