Our mission at NASH kNOWledge is to increase public awareness of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), a 21st Century epidemic that is primarily caused by an unhealthy lifestyle and poor diet, not alcohol. With NASH incidence projected to increase by 60+% by 2030 which is why awareness and education are so critical.
About NASH kNOWledge
NASH kNOWledge Founder & President Tony Villiotti experienced the entire spectrum of NAFLD and created our nonprofit after receiving a life-saving liver transplant once the disease progressed to NASH, cirrhosis and liver cancer. Our goal is to help raise awareness, and serve as a resource, to educate others about non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). 100 Million Americans, including children, have NAFLD and up to 25 Million Americans have NASH. Because symptoms are silent and public awareness lacks, most don't know they are affected or find out once the disease has significantly progressed.
Awareness and education are the keys to action and control. Our primary focus is to provide education about NAFLD and NASH disease prevention and reversal, while also raising awareness of the disease and its primary risk factors, which include obesity and diabetes. Our primary near-term focus is to continue to focus on educating the general public about the disease and a healthy diet, and also create tools and resources around nutrition and the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
