2018 His Place

Mission Statement

His Place's mission is to enrich the lives of children, teens, families, and the homeless in the North Side of Pittsburgh through programs based on Biblical principles designed to meet their physical, educational, economic, and spiritual needs.

About His Place

For over 40 years, His Place has served the North Side of Pittsburgh, sharing God's love through Christian outreach. Our ministries include outreach to Pittsburgh's homeless population, summer programming for children and teens, and monthly bible clubs for children and teens.

The main focus of our efforts, however, is our afterschool program for children, teens, and their families. This program is 100% free to all participants, and runs Monday-Friday throughout the school-year. Our afterschool program provides children and teens with a healthy snack, and dinner around the table with their friends and caregivers. It also includes homework help and supplemental academic support, circle time with a focus on team-building and social-emotional learning, exercise, structured playtime, and classes on art, reading, STEM, and the Bible. Our afterschool program supports parents by partnering with families to create educational and behavioral goals for their children, as well as plans and resources to accomplish these goals. We also provide classes for parents on topics such as stress reduction and family dynamics.
