About Gwen's Girls, Inc.

Gwen's Girls, Inc. is a non-profit organization that serves at-risk girls ages 8 to 18 that was created in 2002 by the late Gwendolyn J. Elliott. Ms. Elliott noticed the plight of young girls coming into the criminal system and the fact that no one really knew what to do with and for the girls. She wanted to establish a program to address the specific needs of girls and their families in hopes that an effective and lasting change could be made in the life of girls positively impacting the choices and the life track that she selects.

Gwen's Girls assist and work to empower girls to realize their strengths, learn new and different skills, become self-sufficient, and become part of the community. Gwen's Girls offers the following:

  • Community and School-based groups via MPLC (Making Positive Life Choices);
  • Afterschool / Summer Camp Programming (Northside, East End, Wilkinsburg & Clairton);
  • STEM/STEAM activities;
  • Career Exploration and Workforce Readiness;Clinical services; and
