SisterFriend is an organization dedicated to menstrual hygiene management by providing vulnerable women and girls with services, collective advocacy and education.
Women living in poverty typically know where to find a safe place to sleep or a hot meal to eat. However, when it comes to taking care of their feminine hygiene needs they often have nowhere to turn. Tampons and sanitary pads usually tops the list of items needed at shelters because they are expensive and supporters don't often donate them. That is where SisterFriend comes in.
We provide shelters and after-school programs with the feminine care products they so desperately need. SisterFriend saw a need in the greater Pittsburgh area to uplift vulnerable women and girls at the most basic but essential level.
SisterFriend envisions a world where every woman is treated with dignity, respect and receives the right to hygienically manage their menstruation despite her social-economic status.
SisterFriend supports menstrual hygiene management for vulnerable women and girls through the following programs and services: partnering with organizations and individuals to directly distribute feminine hygiene products raising awareness of menstrual hygiene issues through our advocacy initiatives providing leadership opportunities to young women in our community
