Pittsburgh Mercy

Mission Statement

We, Pittsburgh Mercy and Trinity Health, serve together in the spirit of the Gospel as a compassionate and transforming, healing presence within our communities.

The Way Home

Donations raised by Pittsburgh Mercy will benefit The Way Home.  The Way Home is a fundraising campaign on behalf of Pittsburgh Mercy’s Operation Safety Net® to provide permanent homes and support for Pittsburgh’s homeless individuals and families.  With a long waiting list of candidates hoping to make a fresh start, The Way Home aims to raise critical funds to fuel the efforts of Operation Safety Net® to aid Pittsburgh’s homeless community.  Each dollar raised helps Operation Safety Net ® continue to be a compassionate and healing presence to vulnerable people in our city.  On average, $2,600 is enough to help open the door to a new life—covering costs for a security deposit, first month’s rent, basic furnishings and food.  Paired with ongoing care management and follow-up visits, once-homeless individuals are given hope and a renewed journey toward self-sufficiency.

Over the past 10 years, Operation Safety Net has helped more than 1,600 individuals who were once homeless to find homes of their own.  Even more impressive is our success rate: 85% have remained in housing for two or more years.  The Way Home will focus on finding homes and providing follow-up for those individuals in Allegheny County who are experiencing homelessness. The estimated cost per person is $2,600 – not a lot when you consider it has the potential to positively change and save lives. With your help, these individuals can find not only a home, but also safety, security, hope, and a productive place in our community.
