Consumer Health Coalition

Mission Statement

Consumer Health Coalition (CHC) is dedicated to inspiring a consumer movement to advance health and enhance access to quality, affordable health care. We further our mission by targeting populations that are at-risk for experiencing barriers to good health and health care. This includes people with low incomes, the uninsured and underinsured, and underserved populations.

About Consumer Health Coalition

Since its inception in 1998 CHC has provided counseling assistance to the uninsured and under-insured in our community. Our bi-lingual staff provides comprehensive enrollment and referral services, as well as follow up and renewal assistance. When individuals come to CHC, they work directly with a licensed healthcare Navigator, and undergo an eligibility assessment for public health insurance programs, premium tax credits and cost sharing assistance through the Marketplace. If problems occur at any point during the review process Navigators will act as liaisons between the issuing department or organization and the client. Once the benefit is issued, CHC continues to work with the consumer throughout service delivery and during the renewal process. In the event an individual is not eligible for any programs, Navigators will help to connect consumers to free and low cost critical public health resources.

Consumer Health Coalition also works to promote self and systemic advocacy. Our advocacy work includes task forces, letters to the editor, legislative visits, and more. Our Health Committee for People with Disabilities is a consumer-led, cross-disabilities (physical, mental, behavioral, cognitive, sensory, developmental, cross-disabilities) group of advocates doing both self and systemic advocacy. We welcome family members, advocates, and community members to get involved in our monthly meetings.
