Mission Statement
The mission of the DeSales Free Clinic is to provide free medical services to those in need while providing an excellent learning platform for the students in the DeSales University Physician Assistant Program. Our goal is to help raise certified physician assistants who are involved in their community and can serve as a meaningful solution to their community's needs.
About DeSales Free Clinic
The DeSales Free Clinic was established in January 2007 by the faculty and students of the DeSales University Physician Assistant Program.The patients seen at the Free Clinic are cared for by PA students who are supervised by PA program faculty as well as more than 55 volunteer physicians and PAs from the local community.The Free Clinic meets two nights a week and each evening is worked by 5 PA students and two preceptors.Since 2007, the Free Clinic has provided over 3300 medical visits completely free of charge to over 1000 men.Additional services provided include medications, laboratory testing, and imaging, all completely free to the patients.This experience is integral to the curriculum of the PA Program and serves men who might otherwise have no access to routine healthcare services.Operating funds for the Free Clinic are provided by student fund raising, a University endowment, and community donations.The Free Clinic is currently housed inside of the Allentown Rescue Mission in downtown Allentown, Pennsylvania.
