About Center for Champions

Center for Champions started serving youth and families of Harrisburg in 1998.Center for Champions is a LIFE on LIFE mentoring program. For the past few years, we've have been fortunate to offer ourmentoring program in the capital city region.Below is a description of what we do, but you can visit our website: www.centerforchampions.org, for further information as well as pictures and videos. To see firsthand what we do, we invite you to visit us.Many kids lack positive, consistent influences. At Center for Champions, we provide Christian LIFE on LIFE mentors to these kids. Here's how we do it:

**ROOTED SITE MENTORING - at Rooted, each student is matched LIFE on LIFE with a caring, adult mentor.Together they participate in team competition, Bible discussion, academic enrichment, and life skills challenges.Rooted provide excellent environment for friendships to grow between mentor and mentee.Rooted happens once each week through the school year.Rooted JV is the 5th-8th grade students and Rooted Varsity is for high school students.

** LIFE on LIFE - everything we do at Center for Champions is done LIFE on LIFE.Matches are encouraged to attend Rooted but also to meet outside the walls of Rooted as well. This is where depth is built.Friendships deepen and as a trusting relationship is built, great discussion occurs. This is what LIFE on LIFE is all about.

**PARENT OUTREACH - often times, behavior or other issues are related to the home environment. Therefore, Center for Champions provides parents outreach through monthly family gathering, men's and women's groups, and visits to the home.We are also introducing mom's matches for our single moms. This too is a LIFE on LIFE relationship between a single mom and a women who just wants to be there to be a friend.

Center for Champions reaches out primarily to youth that are growing up fatherless or are considered at-risk.In order for us to reach as many youth as possible and thrive in our program, we need mentors and financial support.
